The tennis world was heating up on the eve of the US Open, as players and culinary experts gathered at Citi Taste of Tennis in New York City. The event, held at Gotham Hall, brought together a mix of professional players, chefs, and mixologists for a night of delicious food and cocktails.
Amidst the backdrop of the US Open draw release, attendees including top American players like J.J. Wolf, Taylor Fritz, Mackenzie McDonald, and Alycia Parks enjoyed a variety of culinary delights. Wolf, in particular, couldn’t get enough of the “spicy, spicy” flavors that filled the room.
Fritz even got in on the action, taking part in a cook-off against Olympic gold medalist Zheng Qinwen. The event, hosted by tennis legend Andre Agassi, was a highlight of the night as players showcased their culinary skills.
Agassi, known for his expertise in both tennis and pickleball, shared his thoughts on the upcoming US Open. “I’m rooting for an American to breakthrough in their backyard,” Agassi said. “We’ve got five in the Top 20. Tommy Paul’s athleticism, the way Taylor hits the ball as quick as the courts are playing, Ben Shelton with the way he’s serving, Sebi Korda with the way he’s hitting it, Tiafoe turned the corner last week. I’m hoping one of them can do something really special.”
With the excitement of the US Open building, Citi Taste of Tennis set the stage for a thrilling start to the final Grand Slam of the year. As players and fans alike indulged in gourmet dishes and creative cocktails, the stage was set for an unforgettable night of tennis and culinary delights.
