In the world of tennis, Daniil Medvedev is known for his fierce competitiveness and fiery on-court demeanor. But off the court, the Russian star is showing a different side of himself – as a father to his soon two-year-old daughter, Alisa.
Medvedev recently opened up about how fatherhood has changed him, admitting that his daughter is teaching him how to be more patient. “I don’t always succeed to be the best father I want to be, but it teaches you,” he said in an interview with tennis.com. “I am even trying to read books about it because I really want her to grow up as a happy person.”
The 2021 US Open champion also revealed that he is already seeing some of his own characteristics in Alisa, which has led to some humorous moments with his wife, Daria. “My wife hilariously asks if I have any idea from did she pick that up,” he said with a laugh.
During the recent Sunshine Double tournament in March, Medvedev noticed that Alisa had a tendency to have angry reactions, leading him to reflect on his own temperament. “It was probably in our genes,” he joked. “I could stop asking myself why I was prone to outbursts and meltdowns.”
As Medvedev continues to navigate the ups and downs of fatherhood, he is embracing the challenges and finding humor in the experience. “It’s a learning process,” he said. “But it’s also a lot of fun to see her grow and develop her own personality.”
It seems that the tennis star is not only a force to be reckoned with on the court, but also a devoted and loving father off the court. And as Alisa continues to grow, it will be interesting to see how she takes after her father – both on and off the tennis court.
