In a riveting segment on the live ABC program Kelly and Mark, rising tennis star Jannik Sinner shared intimate insights into his personality that had fans glued to their screens.
The show kicked off with the host, who proudly proclaimed her status as an Italian mom and self-proclaimed Jannik fan, setting the stage for an intriguing conversation. Jannik delved into his decision to pursue tennis over skiing in his youth, shedding light on the mindset that drove his choice.
“When I was little I was definitely a better skier, I changed sports because in skiing if you make a mistake you can no longer win and in tennis instead you can make mistakes, accept them and move on. It happened to me even in the final. Sometimes you have to play with a poker face but inside it’s like there’s a storm. I grew up in the far north of Italy, we come from the mountains and nature. There are lots of animals but it’s certainly not the jungle,” Jannik charmingly shared.
Currently basking in the glow of his recent US Open victory, securing his 2nd career Grand Slam title at the tender age of 23, Sinner finds himself in the midst of a doping controversy. Wada’s request for additional documentation has extended the saga, yet his growing global fanbase admires his authenticity and charisma. Laughter abounded as Jannik’s candid remarks resonated with the American audience.
In a separate interview on Sky Sport, former coach to tennis legend Roger Federer, Ivan Ljubicic, dissected Sinner’s flawless performance against Taylor Fritz in the US Open final.
“When you win three sets to zero the numbers are almost all on the winner’s side 88% is a lot, a lot, almost nine out of ten. Jannik struggled only every now and then with the second serve because Fritz jumped on him and tried to hurt him. Maybe the only difficulty Jannik had was with his second serve, but on the return he was always superior. 68% with the first and 43% with the second for Fritz is very little, that’s where the match was decided,” Ljubicic analyzed.
Sinner’s meteoric rise to the top of the tennis world shows no signs of slowing down, and his unique blend of talent and charisma continues to captivate audiences across the globe.
